New Executive Director Takes Lead

Albuquerque, N.M. – The New Mexico Games is proud to announce a new Executive Director at the helm of the games, sports entrepreneur and proud New Mexican Andres Trujillo. With the change in leadership position, the games have decided to put on a virtual run for athletes to participate in for 2020.

The 2020 New Mexico Games events may have been cancelled, but that doesn't mean athletes can't stay active. Athletes young and old are encouraged to join the 2020 Retro Virtual Run kicking off September 1st, 2020 and running through December 31st, 2020. Fee is only $45 and everyone is invited to join in the fun! The run is virtual meaning that participants can run on their own time and location.

Several events to participate in include a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, & Marathon. Participants that complete the run will receive a finisher's medal of one of the past year's New Mexico Games along with a t-shirt from a random year, and a t-shirt from years past.

Newly elected New Mexico Games Executive Director Andres Trujillo said, "The COVID-19 pandemic hit our state very hard and even though we cancelled the 2020 games, we as a board felt it was imperative we create an event that was safe and fun for athletes to participate in this year while limiting their exposure. I feel this virtual run will help athletes to get out of the house, enjoy the New Mexico weather and stay active."

The finishers with the best times in each category will be invited and featured in the opening ceremonies of the 2021 New Mexico Games.

It’s official that Andres Trujillo has officially taken over the Executive Director position from Fred Hultberg who served the New Mexico Games for the past 30 years.
