WHAT ARE THE NEW MEXICO GAMES?
The mission of the New Mexico Games is to have individuals from throughout New Mexico compete, forming new and lasting relationships.
The New Mexico Games offers statewide sports competition for New Mexico's athletes. The New Mexico Games was first introduced to the state in 1989.
Today, over 4,500 athletes participate in 20+ sports at the Olympic-style sports festival during from May-November. The Games are recognized and encouraged by the United States Olympic Committee and state winners get invited to the Annual State Games of America.
WHO CAN COMPETE?
All New Mexicans! The New Mexico Games offers events for athletes of all ages!
HOW DO I REGISTER?
We encourage everyone to register online. You can register for a sport by going to our Sport Listing, selecting a sport and following the online registration process. There is also a printable entry form on each sport page which you can fill out and mail with payment to the New Mexico Games office.
WHAT DOES THE ENTRY FEE COVER?
All individuals and team participants will receive a New Mexico Games T-shirt with registration. Spectators may buy athlete shirts for $10.00.
WHERE DO I PICK UP MY T-SHIRT?
Athletes may pick up New Mexico Games T-shirt and information on the day of the event at the event venue (ahead of time at New Mexico Games Office if event allows). For first and final weekend sports T-shirts will be distributed at the competition site.
IS THERE AN ADMISSION FEE FOR SPECTATORS?
Most of New Mexico Games events have free admission for spectators! Some events charge all spectators. Check on events page HERE for which events charge for spectating.
WHAT IF I WANT TO ENTER MULTIPLE SPORTS?
Athletes are encouraged to enter more than one sport!
ARE THERE AWARDS?
In keeping with the Olympic-style feel, athletes in the all competitive events vie for the custom cast New Mexico Games gold, silver and bronze medals with Olympic-style neck ribbons.
WHAT IF THERE IS BAD WEATHER?
Sports using outdoor sites are weather dependent. Competition will be conducted unless the sport commissioner, facility managers or the New Mexico Games staff determine weather conditions to be potentially dangerous or life threatening, or if playing fields would incur significant damage. The New Mexico Games reserves all rights to change competition format, schedules or locations depending upon the situation. Refunds for events canceled due to weather will be given. HOW DO I VOLUNTEER?
The New Mexico Games is a non-profit organization that relies heavily on its volunteers. For many of our volunteers, it is the feeling of accomplishment, sharing in others’ success or just having fun that keeps them returning year after year.
