List of 2022 New Mexico Games Sports Events Announced


Albuquerque, NM - The New Mexico Games has returned to the state for 2022 year. The games will kick off events starting in May with the most iconic basketball tournament in New Mexico over Memorial Day Weekend. 2022 will boast 20 sports events for all New Mexicans of all ages to compete in.


The New Mexico Games has been around since 1989 and this year will mark the 33rd year the sports competitions will take place. The opening ceremonies will kick off the games on May 10th, 2022 with the lighting of the cauldron with one of the most iconic basketball tournament in New Mexico.


The New Mexico Games basketball tournament will run Memorial Day Weekend May 27th-30th, 2022 at various gyms around Albuquerque including Johnson Gym at the University of New Mexico. 2022 will mark 3 years since the New Mexico Games hosted a basketball tournament due to COVID.


The basketball tournament will host 19 divisions and is open from youth 4th grade up to high school. There is also a senior men's and women's division as well as a recreation division. For the top gun basketball teams, there will be an open division. Registration is $250 per team and $150 for seniors until May 2nd. After that date, late registration fees apply. Only a limited number of teams are allowed and teams are encouraged to register early


Following the basketball tournament, June features quite a few exciting events including judo, swimming, track and field, indoor racket sports, and a highly competitive L5 USTA tennis tournament.


July will feature BMX and high school volleyball. August will be busy with drone racing which is new to the Games, adult volleyball, pickleball, and the ever popular cornhole. In September, bowling will begin their state qualifiers and the newly added disc golf tournament will debut. The 2022 New Mexico Games will round out the year with archery in October.
